At The Earth's Core & A Princess of Mars

by Edgar Rice Burroughs

At the Earth's Core and A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs, with original artwork by Ron Miller, is a Collector's Edition bound in full leather of deep navy-black with a fine pebbled grain and a soft satin sheen, accented throughout in 22kt gold. The front board carries a slender gold rule running parallel to the fore-edge and the head before angling inward across the upper right corner to frame the panel; within its lower right quadrant sits a large gold oval enclosing a stylized linear figure of a warrior, angular limbs braced and a long spear thrust diagonally toward the lower left, the line work spare and almost skeletal. The hubbed spine is divided by raised bands into compartments: interlaced knotwork emblems in gold occupy the head and the lower panels, while the central fields carry the titles in gilt capitals, AT THE EARTH'S CORE above a rule and A PRINCESS OF MARS beneath, with E. R. Burroughs stamped in small gilt letters near the foot. Issued in a limited run as part of the Masterpieces of Science Fiction collection by The Easton Press, it is Smyth sewn with concealed muslin joints, printed on acid-neutral archival paper, and finished with 22kt gold gilded page edges, and a pristine bookplate remains affixed inside the front cover. A single-owner copy from a private collection, unread and always stored in dust-free bookcases in a dry climate, its condition is pristine and as new.
