Downbelow Station

by C. J. Cherryh

Downbelow Station by C. J. Cherryh, with original artwork by Vincent DiFate, is a Collector's Edition bound in full leather of deep forest green with a fine pebbled grain and a low satin sheen, accented in 22kt gold. The front board is framed by a slender gold rule that turns inward across the upper left corner, and within it a broad band of stippled gold sweeps diagonally from the lower left toward the upper right like a star stream, edged along its underside by a fan of fine parallel hatch lines. A many-rayed starburst sits along the fore-edge margin at mid height, and in the lower portion a ringed orbital station is drawn in gold line, its banded cylindrical hull crossed by slender masts and antennae, with scattered points and small cross-shaped stars dispersed around it. The hubbed spine carries raised bands with a ringed planet emblem in gold at the head above a curved rule, the title in tall gilt capitals reading lengthwise down the panel, C. J. Cherryh in small gilt letters below it, and a further emblem in the compartment at the foot. Issued in a limited run within the Masterpieces of Science Fiction collection by The Easton Press, it is Smyth sewn with concealed muslin joints, printed on acid-neutral archival paper, finished with 22kt gold gilded page edges, and carries a pristine bookplate inside the front cover. A single-owner copy from a private collection, unread and always stored in dust-free bookcases in a dry climate, its condition is pristine and as new. Stunning Green Leather Bound hardback book with hubbed spine, cover artwork in 22kt gold, printed on archival paper with gold gilded edges, smyth sewing & concealed muslin joints - original artwork by Vincent DiFate
